The context

Social assistants, helping people reaching the end of their lives and their families, as well as a funeral director joined as sponsors. They expressed their desire for a work framing the deceased and their relatives at the funeral.

The commission

The artist Wesley Meuris responded to this request by providing a place of contemplation which incorporates the cemetery area in the valley. The work was introduced as part of the opening of the new cemetery of the village of Borgloon.
